
A pair of one-vehicle accidents in Coleman and Callahan counties early Monday, March 23 resulted in two fatalities.
At 3:25 a.m. Monday at Interstate 20 and County Road 425 in Callahan County, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported a vehicle was traveling west on the interstate. The driver of the vehicle drove off the roadway into the center median, then off the bridge spanning over CR 425, striking a concrete embankment and catching on fire.
As of 5:30 p.m. Monday, neither the vehicle nor the driver had been identified, and whether or not a seat beat was worn was also unknown.
At 6 a.m. Monday on County Road 402 in Coleman County, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup was traveling west. The driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve and went off the north side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a metal pipe fence and rolled over.
Bobby Eugene Dickinson, 87, from Coleman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was wearing a seat belt, according to DPS reports.
