EDINBURG – Making her second consecutive trip to the Class 4A portion of the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting State Meet, Brownwood Lady Lion Leslie Rios on Friday placed seventh in the 220-pound weight class.

Rios lifted a total of 930 pounds – a personal best of 380 in the squat, 185 in the bench press, and another personal best of 365 pounds in the deadlift.

Rios advanced to state by winning the regional championship with 885 pounds lifted.

At the state meet a year ago, Rios also placed seventh in the 220s, but with only 790 pounds lifted.
