
EARLY – The Early Lady Horns improved to 4-0 in District 8-3A softball action and stretched their win streak to seven games with a 16-0 shutout over the Breckenridge Lady Bucks Wednesday night.
In a game moved from Breckenridge to Early due to Tuesday night’s thunderstorms, the Lady Horns (15-4, 4-0) raced out to a 7-0 advantage over the Lady Bucks (7-11, 1-3) after one inning, which grew to 11-0 after two, 12-0 after three, and 16-0 through four.
The 12-hit onslaught for Early was sparked by Andie Simpson’s three and five RBIs; two from Paizlee Scott – including a home run and a double – and three RBIs; two and a pair of RBIs from Jaime Lyon; two – including a triple – from Kyleigh Caperton; two singles from Jamie Vassar; and a single and a pair of RBIs from Sydney Greaves.
The Lady Horns also drew four walks and were aided by five Breckenridge errors.
In the circle, Sunny Groom hurled a five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk. The Early defense did not commit an error.
Early is back in action at 5 p.m. Tuesday when it welcomes Tolar.
