Hendrick Health announced today that it has been honored with the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award (GEWA) for the 20th consecutive year, continuing its stretch of unprecedented success among healthcare providers.

The 2026 award signifies that Hendrick continues to be the sole healthcare organization worldwide – and one of only two companies globally – to have received recognition from Gallup every year since the award’s inception. Of the 80 international winners announced in 2026, Hendrick Health is one of nine healthcare systems in the nation and three in Texas to receive the award.

The two-decade run of success highlights Hendrick Health’s ongoing commitment to cultivating an exceptional workplace culture and employee engagement, setting a standard for organizations across industries.

“Winning this award 20 years in a row is an extraordinary tribute to our team of dedicated, exceptional employees, who consistently demonstrate a deep commitment to excellence each day,” said Courtney Head, vice president for Hendrick Health. “This recognition reflects our ongoing promise to provide trusted, compassionate care and to be a healthcare partner the West Central Texas region can rely on.”

Gallup’s research consistently shows that organizations that prioritize both people and performance are better positioned for long-term success. Gallup’s meta-analysis on team engagement and performance is the most comprehensive workplace study ever conducted, with data on more than 3.3 million employees in 347 organizations across 53 industries and 90 countries.

Highly engaged organizations significantly outperform their peers on important business outcomes, including customer ratings, productivity, turnover, safety incidents, absenteeism, quality, well-being and organizational citizenship, Gallup reports.

About Hendrick Health

Hendrick Health is a locally owned healthcare system in Abilene, Texas, directed by a local, volunteer board and affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Guided by a Christian mission to serve all, Hendrick Health operates three tertiary-care facilities – Hendrick Medical Center and Hendrick Medical Center South in Abilene and Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood in Brownwood – and Hendrick Clinic, a multi-specialty medical group of physicians and other advanced professional providers. The health system’s roots date to September 15, 1924, with the dedication of West Texas Baptist Sanitarium. Since then, the hospital has evolved and grown to transform the region’s healthcare. Hendrick Health today employs approximately 5,600 to serve 400,000 residents in 24 counties, a landmass representing 9% of the state. The health system provided $35.1 million in charity care in 2025.
