EARLY – The Early Lady Horns remained unbeaten in District 8-3A softball action Monday afternoon with a 9-2 home victory over the Comanche Maidens.

Early (14-4, 3-0), which extended its win streak to six games, tallied the first seven runs of the game against Comanche (1-13, 0-3) – two in the first inning, four in the second, and one in the fourth. The Maidens recorded single runs in fifth and sixth innings before the Lady Horns chalked up their last run in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Horns’ 10-hit attack included three each from Sunny Groom and Andie Simpson, who both homered and drove in three runs. Aleeya McCombs added a hit and a pair of RBIs, while Jamie Vassar and Jaime Lyon both finished with one hit and one RBI, and Kyleigh Caperton also added a base hit.

In the circle, Adysn Atchley went the distance and yielded one earned run on three hits with 11 strikeouts and four walks. The Early defense committed four errors behind her.

Faith Hesbrook, Emily Sierra and Xandra Lopez recorded hits for Comanche, while Addyson Evans tossed all six innings and gave up nine earned runs on 10 hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.

The Lady Horns are back in action at 1 p.m. Wednesday at 8-3A rival Breckenridge (7-9, 1-1).
