Basketball week to me is where you get all the teams and you put them in order, the NCAA, therefore you have a one, two, three and four all the way down to sixteen. Then you do the same thing in four divisions. There may be a throw-in team here and there, a wild card if you will. I’ve played this thing for many, many, many years and I’ve never come close. The fact is, I was so far off last year I actually lost more games in one region than I picked.

So, here we go again. The problem is, I’ve been chomping at the bit for about two weeks and the NCAA tournament doesn’t start for another week. In other words, you have to have the conference tournaments first and that has nothing to do with the national championship but has to do with the conference. Anyway, I’m sitting here and I think I know my pick and I just need a bracket. So, unbeknownst to anyone, including me, I’m going to go without a bracket.

I think – this is a shock – I really believe Arkansas may win the thing. Now, are they favored in any of the four divisions? I don’t think so. I think they’ll be about third maybe and I don’t have a clue what division they are going to be in, but I just have a gut feeling that Arkansas is going to win. You know what will happen? They will probably go out in the first round or something like that.

Anyway, it’s just a fun pick for me. Arkansas will win it. I will not say that very loudly or anything like that. I don’t have a great amount of confidence. I think Arkansas will win.

This is not a column where we try to pick the bracket and all of that stuff so forget that. I’m just putting my winner out there and they may be gone after the first round, second round, third round, or everything is a possibility. It’s kind of a crazy Arkansas team. Sometime they look great and other times they look horrible. If it’s like any other tournament though, it’s fun. I like it and I think you do too. I’m ready to bounce the ball and I assume you are two. Arkansas wins a shocking NCAA tournament. Arkansas! Hey, they’ve won it before. I think it was forty years ago maybe with Nolan Richardson, but that’s just me. I feel good about Arkansas, how about you?
