GuthrieBillyBilly Don Guthrie, age 69, of Brownwood went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 25, 2016. He was surrounded by his loved ones in Rockport, Texas.

Memorial Service with Masonic Rites for Billy will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Indian Creek Lodge in Bangs, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

Billy was born on March 15, 1947, to Willis Horne “W.H.” and Emma Jean (Winstead) Guthrie in Brownwood. He was a member of the community for over 50 years in Brownwood. Billy married the love of his life, Diane Shirk, on September 19, 1980, in Brownwood. He was a Barber for 52 years; he worked at University Cuts and Copy for 20 years.

Billy was a member of the Bangs Masonic Lodge and Past Master of the Indian Creek Lodge that he held very dear in his heart. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Lake Brownwood.

He loved family, golf, and especially fishing; he loved to catch any and every fish out there. Not to mention, he was one heck of a pool shark! Billy was a history buff; he could tell you everything about history, as well as his son Billy Don. He also loved to research and learn something new every day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. and Jean Guthrie; grandson, Stephen Kessinger; great-granddaughter, Paizle Cisheroz; and first wife, Lana Beth Miller.

Billy is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diane Guthrie of Brownwood; children, Renee Scandurra and husband Mike, Billy Don Guthrie Jr. and wife Cynthia of Rockport, Texas, William Watson and wife Rose of Brownwood, Melissa Walkoviak and husband Danny of Comanche, Seleste Bond and husband Kevin of Brownwood; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, David Guthrie of Brownwood. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to AIM Hospice in Rockport or Indian Creek Lodge in Bangs, Texas. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
