BeasleyLesA graveside funeral service for Leslie S. Beasley, age 70, of Brownwood, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Greenleaf Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service, at Heartland Funeral Home.

Mr. Beasley died Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Abilene after a brief illness.

Leslie S. Beasley was born in Sweetwater on April 7, 1946 to David Robert and Ellen (Ross) Beasley.  He graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston in the Class of 1964 and graduated from the University of Houston.  Les served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Sargent in the Vietnam War.  He went on to work as a construction superintendent and plant manager.

Les loved to watch NASCAR, travel, drink Jack Daniel’s Whiskey and eat Blue Bell Ice Cream.  He was a member of the Pecan Valley Marine Corps League, VFW Post 3278 in Brownwood and American Legion Post 2016 in Bangs.  Les was currently serving as president of the Greenleaf Cemetery Association.

Les is survived by his wife Marilyn Appelt Beasley of Brownwood, a daughter Tammy Silvers and husband Chris of Commerce, Georgia; two granddaughters, Kayla and Chelsea Burrow of Commerce, Georgia and a step-son, Chris W. Burger of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family requests memorials be made to the Greenleaf Cemetery Association or a favorite charity.
