
Howard Payne University will present a duo recital by Drs. Kent and In-Ja Eshelman on Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Grace Chapel on HPU’s campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Dr. Kent Eshelman is professor of euphonium and tuba at Baylor University, where he joined the faculty in 2009 following appointments at Northern Arizona University, Western Kentucky University and Grand Valley State University. He is principal tubist of the Waco Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the orchestras of Grand Rapids, San Antonio and Toledo. He holds music degrees from the University of Michigan, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Michigan State University.
Dr. In-Ja Eshelman is a lecturer in piano at Baylor University. She received her doctorate and master’s degrees in piano performance from Michigan State University. A native of Seoul, South Korea, she earned a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Kyung Hee University and a diploma from Sunhwa Art High School. Teaching applied piano and class piano in the Keyboard Division, she also serves as a collaborative pianist, has taught courses in the Academic Studies Division and maintains a private piano studio.
The Eshelmans reside in Waco with their two sons.
