Amarrea Thomas (left) and Adyn Lucas both hit home runs for Brownwood (11-7), which next hosts Gatesville at 5:30 p.m. Friday

The Brownwood Lady Lions exploded for a season-high in runs, walloping Class 3A Llano by a 21-3 count Tuesday night in non-district softball action.

Brownwood (11-7) scored a dozen runs in the bottom of the second inning, then tacked on two more in the third before Llano (8-6) scored all three of its runs in the top of the fourth. The Lady Lions then logged seven additional runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cap the scoring.

The Lady Lions finished with 15 hits, with home runs by Amarrea Thomas for the second game in a row, as well as Adyn Lucas. Carlee Burks and Maitlyn Esquivel both tripled and Kaydence Allen and Brenda Allen both doubled.

Kaydence Allen led the team with four hits while Brenda Allen, Lucas, and Burks contributed two apiece, and Thomas, Esquivel, Hanah Campos, Lila Mares, and Audrey Keas chipped in one each.

Thomas also generated a team-high five RBIs while Kaydence Allen chipped in four, Campos recorded three, Burks and Brenda Allen both drove in two, and Lucas, Keas and Esquivel each plated a run.

In the circle, Kaydence Allen tossed three no-hit innings with seven strikeouts, while Brenda Allen pitched one frame and surrendered three runs on three hits with a strikeout and two walks.

The Lady Lions next host Gatesville at 5:30 p.m. Friday in a rematch of Brownwood’s 8-0 win at the Killeen tournament on Feb. 12.
