ButtsLindaOur beloved mother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in Brownwood, Texas.  She had bravely fought a 14-month battle with ALS.  Our mom was born on December 23, 1949 in Gorman, Texas to J.B. and Fanny Mae Scott.  She was a 1968 graduate of De Leon High School and attended Howard Payne University.  Mom was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Gary T. Butts.

For those who knew our mother, you understand that no words can adequately describe how beautiful her spirit was.  She will forever be remembered for her kindness to others and for her sweet smile that warmed the hearts of everyone she met.  She cared and loved so very deeply, that I know she left her mark on all who loved her.  My brother and I have felt the legacy she has left behind by the many tributes received by those whose lives she touched.  We know that our loss is felt by so many and find comfort in knowing that she was received by our Heavenly Father, and she is finally at peace with our dad.  I know Daddy was so happy to greet her with a cocktail in hand, the Eagles playing, and the hot tub ready to go!

Linda is survived by her son, James Butts of Brownwood and daughter Shanna Hendrix of Austin.  She leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Jamie, Erik and Lainee Butts of Brownwood as well as her brother, Sam Scott of De Leon.

We will be celebrating our mother’s life with a graveside service at Greenleaf Cemetery at 10 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2016.  In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations are made in our mom’s memory to www.alsa.org or because of our mom’s love for horses, please feel free to donate to www.blubonnetequine.org or www.habitatforhorses.org.

Online memorials may be made at davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
