Cherita Munguia picked up her 50th win as head coach and Kaydence Allen surpassed 300 career strikeouts for Brownwood (9-5), which faces Anderson-Shiro at 12:50 p.m. Friday and Ingram at 5:50 p.m. Friday, and Shallowater at 11:10 a.m. Saturday to wrap up tournament action.

LLANO – The Brownwood Lady Lions softball team erased a four-run deficit and halted a four-game losing streak in the process, rallying for a 7-6 victory – the 50th in head coach Cherita Munguia’s career – over Lubbock Trinity Christian Thursday night at the Llano tournament.

Trailing 6-2 in the top of the fourth inning, Audrey Keas led off with a single, JoLea Chambers followed with a one-out walk, and Hanah Campos singled home Keas to trim the deficit to 6-3. Adyn Lucas then reached on an error that allowed Kaylee Johnson, running for Chambers, to score the fourth run. Later in the frame, both Campos and Lucas scored on a wild pitch, which evened the score at 6.

Then in the top of the fifth inning, Maitlyn Esquivel’s RBI double scored Eboni Baker with the decisive run.

Brownwood amassed nine hits – three each from Campos and Keas and one apiece by Esquivel, Amarrea Thomas and Brenda Allen.

In the circle, Brenda Allen worked the first two innings and gave up six runs on four hits with two strikeouts and three walks, while Kaydence Allen tossed two innings of scoreless, hitless relief with five strikeouts – surpassing 300 in her career – to collect the win.

The Lady Lions began the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Wall as Brownwood took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Lucas singled with one out and scored with two outs on a steal of home. The Lady Lions, however, mustered just three other hits the rest of the contest.

Brenda Allen singled twice, and Campos also added a base hit for the Lady Lions.

Wall drew even at 1 in the top of the third inning, and scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning.

In the circle, Kaydence Allen surrendered two runs on four hits with 15 strikeouts and two walks, while the Lady Lion defense committed three errors behind her.

The Lady Lions (9-5) will face Anderson-Shiro at 12:50 p.m. Friday and Ingram at 5:50 p.m. Friday, and Shallowater at 11:10 a.m. Saturday to wrap up tournament action.
