Lady Horns basketball earns second straight bi-district title, 51-40 over City View

ALEDO – For the second year in a row, the Early Lady Horns secured a girls basketball bi-district championship, toppling Wichita Falls City View 51-40 Monday night in Class 3A Division II Region I action.

The Lady Horns (25-10), the second seed from District 8 in 3A Division II, advance to the area round to battle Clyde (18-15), the second seed out of District 6, a 44-43 winner over District 5 top seed Blanco Monday night. Early and Clyde will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Coleman.

Against District 7 top seed City View (22-9), the Lady Horns – led by first-year head coach Trynadee Greenwell – trailed 12-7 after one quarter and 19-16 at halftime, but stormed in front 31-29 by the end of the third period and pulled away in the final eight minutes.

Aliyah Harlan paced Early with 16 points followed by 15 from Andie Simpson, 11 from Avery Williams, five from Cali Vargas, three from Gabby Benson and one point from Kayleigh Torrez.

City View received 11 points each from Queenie Thomas and Imayah Hawkins.
