STEPHENVILLE – The Early Lady Horns bounced back from a pair of losses to open the Stephenville tournament Thursday with two victories over Class 4A foes Friday.

First, in an 8-1 victory over Brock, the Lady Horns scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and added their last runs in the fourth. The Lady Eagles mustered just one run in the bottom of the first inning.

Adysn Atchley tossed a three-hitter for Early, allowing one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

The Lady Horn offense generated 10 hits – two each from Paizlee Scott and Zeliah Land, and one apiece from Sunny Groom, Jamie Vassar, Sydney Greaves, Aleeya McCombs and Avery Stifflemire. Land also drove in two runs while Scott, Vassar, Greaves and Stifflemire added one RBI apiece.

Early ended day with an 8-7 triumph over Big Spring, as Stifflemire’s three-run home run with the Lady Horns down 7-5 in the top of the third inning was the difference in the contest.

Up 3-0 after one inning and in front 5-0 heading to the bottom of the second, the Lady Horns yielded seven runs there to fall behind.

Early completed the game with six hits – two by Kyleigh Caperton and one apiece from Groom, Scott, Jaime Lyon and Stifflemire, whose three RBIS were a team-best. Scott added two RBIs while Lyon and Groom contributed one apiece.

In the circle, Atchley and Greaves combined to surrender seven runs on five hits with one strikeout and six walks.

The Lady Horns (3-2) will conclude tournament action Saturday.
