Lonnie Dale Copeland

Lonnie Dale Copeland, age 74, passed away on February 8, 2026 in Brownwood, Texas. The family will host a visitation Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 6-8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM at May Cemetery in May, Texas.

Lonnie was born on May 25, 1951, in Gorman, Texas to Luther L. and Leatrice Copeland. He graduated from Waller High School and later married the love of his life, Debbie Free Copeland, in 1975. Together they shared 44 years of marriage and made their home in Magnolia, Texas, where they raised their family.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Lonnie worked as a truck driver for many years. He took pride in his work and dedicated much of his life to providing for his family. He had a love for animals and agriculture lifestyle.

Lonnie is survived by his sons, Brady Copeland (Kristi) of Plantersville and Billy Copeland (Whittnay) of Dayton; his brother, Luther Copeland (Susan) of Stephenville; his sister, Shirley Dawson (Marvin) of Brownwood; and his brother, Frank Copeland of Oklahoma.

Lonnie is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Braden, Tye, Coby, Trenton, Shyanne, Cadence, Landon, Brooklyn, Austyn, and Corbin. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Cody, Joe, Angela, Marla, Justin, Destinie, and Christopher.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debbie Copeland; his sister, Joann Glenewinkel; his brother-in-law, Danny Glenewinkel; and his parents, Luther L. and Leatrice Copeland.

The family extends a special thank you to Alpha Omega Hospice along with Brownwood Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Magnolia FFA Ag Department.
