Clarence Haywood Fothergill Jr.

Clarence Haywood Fothergill Jr., born December 20, 1940, passed away in Brownwood, Texas, February 8, 2026 at the age of 85. His family will host a visitation on Friday, February 13th from 6-8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. A Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday February 14th at Southside Baptist Church in Brownwood with interment to follow Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.

Clarence was preceded in death by his father Clarence Haywood Fothergill Sr., mother Thelma Louise Fothergill, sister Abigail, nephew Daniel Nystrom and sister-in-law Donna Randall.

Clarence is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Martha Fothergill; daughter Christy George and husband Roger; son Cory Fothergill and wife Kelly; grandchildren Kaylee Rainey and husband BJ, Tiner George and wife Kelli, Abbie, Emma, Ethan and Aidan Fothergill; great-grandchildren Hudson, Hadley and Hayes Rainey, Kinsley, Tatum and Kollins George; brother Tom Fothergill; sister Frances Nystrom and her husband David, sister-in-laws Lucy Wilson and her husband Herm, Doris Brooks, brother-in-law Ivan Woodard and his wife Deb, and many nephews and nieces.

After graduation from Reagan High School in Houston Texas, Clarence chose to serve his country via the US Coast Guard. He was employed by Sperry Univac (Unisys), several small computer companies, and finally was Network Administrator at Howard Payne University from 1999 to 2010.

Clarence loved music and Christian education. He often led music in services, was the Director of Education, assistant, and/or small group teacher in churches he attended. Most of all Clarence loves Jesus and served Him faithfully wherever God took him.
