EARLY – The Early Lady Horns remained in sole possession of second place in the District 8-3A girls basketball standings, rebounding from just their second league loss with a 65-28 victory over Breckenridge Friday night.
The Lady Horns (22-9, 9-2) opened a 12-4 lead after one quarter that stood at 34-12 at halftime and 47-25 prior to the fourth period.
Andie Simpson’s 21 points served as a team-high for the Lady Horns trailed by Avery Williams and Aliyah Harlan with 13 apiece, Gabby Benson with 12, Kayleigh Torrez and Mesa Toft with two each, and Cali Vargas and Cassidy Frerichs with one point apiece.
Early next ventures to Eastland Tuesday.

No. 17 May Tigers 72, Gustine 24
GUSTINE – The No. 17 May Tigers maintained their stranglehold on the top spot in the District 21-A boys basketball standings with a 72-24 victory at Gustine Friday night.
The Tigers (18-8, 8-0) owned a 21-6 advantage through one quarter, 39-15 at halftime, and 60-16 through three frames.
The May offense was fueled by 25 points from Brody Stice, 23 from Kobey Morris, 10 from Tyran Perry, four each from Maddix Raffel and Jackson Lusk, and three points apiece from Mikey Scheriger and Cayson Dail.
May next welcomes Cross Plains Tuesday night.

GUSTINE – The No. 22 May Lady Tigers remained undefeated in District 21-A girls basketball action Friday with an 88-16 road victory over Gustine.
May (25-7, 10-0) owned a 23-4 advantage after the opening period, a 47-13 cushion at halftime, and a 77-16 lead heading into the final quarter, where it did not surrender a point.
Pouring in points for the Lady Tigers were Jordyn Gerhardt with 30, Chloe Lord with 29, Lauren Hicks with 10, Cortney Harper with eight, Aubree Gerhardt with six and McKenna Landes with three.
May next welcomes Cross Plains Tuesday night.

No. 25 Zephyr Bulldogs 68, Lometa 37
LOMETA – The No. 25 Zephyr Bulldogs kept their District 25-A boys basketball record unblemished with a 68-37 road triumph over Lometa Friday night.
The Bulldogs (21-7, 8-0) were down 12-9 after one quarter, jumped in front 30-19 at the break, and carried a 57-28 advantage into the final stanza.
Leading the charge for the Bulldogs were Bauer Blair with 13 points, Cooper Walls with 12, Spencer Marwitz with 11, CJ Byers and Ethan Prochaska with eight apiece, Reese Hamm with seven, Chayden Woodcock and Troy Kubin with four each, and Slade Butler with one point.
Zephyr will next host Cherokee Tuesday night.

LOMETA – The Zephyr Lady Bulldogs notched a 52-21 road victory over Lometa in District 25-A girls basketball action Friday night.
The Lady Bulldogs (17-14, 7-2) led 7-4 after one quarter, 16-8 at halftime, and 33-12 heading to the fourth period.
Scoring for Zephyr were Kenlyn King with 15 points, Avery Stevens with nine, Kirsten King and Riley Hood with eight apiece, and Calyn Kubin and Nataly Lopez with six points each.
Zephyr will next host Cherokee Tuesday night.
