The Texas HS Sports page on X expects the Lions to compete in Class 4A Division II District 5 with Brock, Glen Rose, Lake Worth, Mineral Wells and Venus

With the UIL’s biennial realignment just a week away, pundits continue to offer their prognostications on where schools will end up for the 2026 and 2027 football seasons.

Over the weekend, the Brownwood Lions have been placed in a third potential region, based on the work of the X page Texas HS Sports.

The Lions, who are moving to Class 4A Division II, according to Texas HS Sports will land in Region II, District 5 along with Brock, Glen Rose, Lake Worth, Mineral Wells and Venus.

The rest of Region II in that scenario would feature District 6 comprised of Bonham, Farmersville, Gainesville, Sanger, Sunnyvale and Van Alystyne – the potential bi-district round foes – along with District 7 made up of Athens, Brownsboro, Canton, Kemp, Quinlan Ford and Wills Point, and District 8 comprised of Gilmer, Paris North Lamar, Pittsburg, Pleasant Grove, Spring Hill and Van.

The Texas HS Sports guess makes the third out of the four UIL regions that Brownwood has been expected to call home.

On New Year’s Eve, a revamped projection by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football placed Brownwood in Region IV of Class 4A Division II, located in District 13 along with Waco La Vega, Robinson, Gatesville, Venus, Waco Connally, and Hillsboro.

The first guess by DCTF revealed near the end of the 2025 football season had Brownwood in Region I, District 4 with Brock, Glen Rose, Mineral Wells, Iowa Park, Graham and Burkburnett.

Back in December, the Padilla Poll anticipated the Lions would be housed in a seven-team District 4 in Region I, along with Brock, Glen Rose, Mineral Wells, Kennedale, Hillsboro and Venus. Kennedale, however, will be in Class 4A Division I due to its enrollment number.

Again, these are all just projections as the UIL realignment will be officially announced a week from today, Monday, Feb. 2 at 9 a.m.
