Candidate Filing for Local Races Is January 14 – February 13

Elections for certain local City Councils, School Boards, and the Brown County Water Improvement District will take place on Saturday, May 2.  Candidate filing for those positions will take place January 14 through February 13.  The positions coming up on the May 2 election, along with the current holders of these positions, is shown below.

CITY OF BROWNWOOD

Mayor.  Current Stephen E. Haynes

City Council – Ward 1.  Current H.D. Jones

City Council – Ward 4.  Current Draco A. Miller

CITY OF BANGS

City Council – three seats at large.  Current Cynthia Johnson, Greg Parrott, William Loyd

BANGS ISD 

School Board – two seats at large.  Current Larry Drury, Blu Tidwell

CITY OF BLANKET

City Council – three seats at large.  Current Scotty Isham, Dominique Suentzenich.  One seat currently vacant.

BLANKET ISD

School Board – two seats at large.  Current James Richardson, Scott Russell

CITY OF EARLY

City Council – three seats at large.  Current Benny Allcorn, Charles Matlock, Joel Johnson

EARLY ISD

School Board – Place 6.  Current Christina Pruett

BROWN COUNTY WATER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT #1

Board of Directors – two seats at large.  Current Brad Simpson, Robert Porter

In November elections will be held for the following organizations:  Brownwood ISD, May ISD, Zephyr ISD, Brookesmith ISD, and Brookesmith SUD (Special Utility District).

The Primary Election for many other local offices will be held on March 3, with early voting to be held February 17 through February 27.  The offices and candidates are listed below:
