Kathryn Yvonne Childs Emerson passed from this world on January 4, 2026. A visitation with her family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 9th, 2026 with the Funeral service held the next morning, Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Kathryn was born to Jesse and Mildred Childs on August 16, 1937 in Medina, Texas. She was the 5th child of 6 children. She was a graduate of Medina High School. Kathryn worked for Kraft foods for a number of years and then operated her own daycare in Kerrville for 12 years. She married Norman Emerson in 1992 and they moved to Lake Brownwood. Norm passed away in 2005, then she moved to Bangs to be near her friends and church family. Her greatest joy was painting and spending time with her family and friends. Kathryn was a cherished member of First Baptist Church in Bangs.

Kathryn is survived by her sister, Arnell and husband, David McMillin of Louisiana; step son, Billy Emerson of Redding, California; step daughter, Barbara and husband, Dan Morita of Seattle, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Emerson; her step son, Bruce Emerson; her parents; and 4 siblings.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2400 Crockett Dr. Suite 300 Brownwood, Texas 76801 or First Baptist Church Missions Fund, 401 2nd St. Bangs, Texas 76823 or Bangs Food Pantry, 104 CR 183 Bangs, Texas 76823.
