Jordan Shipley, football star from Burnet, Texas, received severe burn injuries from an accident Tuesday on his ranch near Burnet. Jordan Shipley is the son of Coach Bob Shipley, who was the head football coach at Brownwood High School from 2009 through 2012. Jordan’s younger brother Jaxon Shipley was a football star in Brownwood.
The Shipley family issued the following statement: “Jordan was involved in an accident this afternoon (Tuesday) near his hometown of Burnet. The machine he was operating on his ranch caught fire, and although he managed to get out, it was not before sustaining severe burns on his body in the process. He was able to get one of his workers on the ranch who drove him to a local hospital. He was then care-flighted to Austin where he remains in critical but stable condition.”
Jordan Shipley was a football star for Burnet High School when his father was the coach there. Jordan then played for the University of Texas from 2006 through 2009, and was named All-American in 2009. At U.T. he had 248 career pass catches, 3,191 yards of offense, and 33 touchdowns. In 2010 he was drafted in the NFL by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round. He played three years in the NFL for Cincinnati, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Shipley is now 40-years old, and lives and works on his ranch near Burnet.
It is reported that Jordan Shipley suffered third-degree burns on more than 20% of his body. His father Bob Shipley issued this statement: “Please keep Jordan, his wife and sons in your prayers. He has several surgeries to go through, and the biggest threats at this point seem to be infections and pneumonia.”
