May boys, girls sweep Gustine in basketball action

No. 17 May Tigers 81, Gustine 21

MAY – The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class A No. 17 May Tigers improved to 2-0 in District 21-A action Monday afternoon with an 81-21 home victory over Gustine.

May (11-8, 2-0) opened a 29-5 advantage over Gustine after one quarter, which grew to 51-12 at halftime, and 66-15 heading to the final frame.

Leading the charge for the Tigers were Kobey Morris with 25 points, Brody Stice with 16, Tyran Perry with 13, Jackson Lusk with eight, Kaiden Adams with six, Maddix Raffel with five, Mikey Scheriger and Cayson Dail with three each, and Kaden Watkins with two points.

May will next visit Cross Plains at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

May Lady Tigers 87, Gustine 14

MAY – The May Lady Tigers chalked up an 87-14 home basketball victory over District 21-A rival Gustine Monday afternoon.

The May Lady Tigers (19-6, 4-0) led Gustine 28-5 after one quarter, 56-5 at halftime, and 77-10 through three periods.

Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Jordyn Gerhardt with 35 points, Chloe Lord with 13, Cortney Harper with 10, Aubree Gerhardt, Lauren Hicks and McKenna Landes with nine apiece, and Callee Harper with two points.

May will next visit Cross Plains at 6 p.m. Friday.
