Edmund Walter Wade

Edmund Walter Wade, 87, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Services will be at Heartland Funeral Home 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Edmund was born May 19, 1938, on a ranch near El Dorado, Texas. Edmund married Sandra Jean Babers on November 24, 1965, in Fort Worth, TX and they began a life together that blessed them with 2 children.

Growing up on a farm, Edmund started his adult life as a farmer and rancher before returning to school for his bachelor’s degree at Howard Payne University and a master’s degree at East Texas State University. Edmund began his career as a lifelong educator and principal. He taught in schools from one side Texas to the other at Dell City near El Paso then Hooks near Texarkana. His final years in education were completed at the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD in Fort Worth at Saginaw Elementary and Elkins Elementary. His role as a principal touched many lives of the students he cared for each year. Edmund concluded his working career with the Brownwood Mental Health Mental Retardation Center where he helped many clients reach their full potential.

Never far from farming he loved gardening and having the greenest lawn in town. He also loved travelling to see new places and reading novels.

Edmund is survived by his wife Sandra Wade of Brownwood; sons David Wade and wife Hilda of Corpus Christi, Jim Wade and wife Kim Wade of Saginaw; brothers, John Wade of Brownwood and Joseph & wife, Janice Wade of Zephyr; 3 Grandchildren (Chelsea, Ethan, and Emmy) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Edmund was preceded in death by his father George Wesley Wade; mother, Ella Ida (Leeder) Wade; sister Annie Belle Wade, and brother William George Wade.
