The Heartland Rod Run will take place Friday, June 3rd and Saturday, June 4th, and organizers are getting set for a great weekend of fun.  The event venue has been changed to Heartland Mall in Early due to the flooding and closure of Riverside park.

Friday kicks off the fun with a Poker Run at Early City Hall, located at 906 Early Blvd.  Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. and cost to enter is $5 per hand with proceeds benefiting a local charity.  The main event on Saturday features an outdoor car show at Heartland Mall which will showcase street rods, muscle cars, sports cars, classics, race cars, imports, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors.

Local car club the Heartland Cruisers hosts the event each year with hundreds of entries in the Saturday car show.

Prizes for the car show include $500 Best of Show and five $250 Best of Class awards (Best GM, Best Ford, Best Mopar, Best Import, and Best Bike).  Over 70 awards will be given during the weekends’ events.

The schedule includes:

Friday, June 3rd:

*Poker Run to benefit local charity.  Registration at 6-8 pm at Early City Hall (960 Early Blvd.) Entry fee is $5 per hand. All poker run entries will receive a coupon for Sonic on Early Blvd. for two hamburgers, two orders of french fries and two Cokes.

Saturday, June 4th:

*8am – Registration for car entries into the show at Heartland Mall.  No entry fee

*Free admission to car show.  Show includes kids’ & adult games, food, games, prizes, vendors, goodie bags, and much more at Riverside Park including the popular panty dash and burnout contest during the show.  The burnout contest will cost $15 per entry with $100 1st prize and $50 second prize.  All proceeds from the burnout contest benefit the Early Volunteer Fire Department.

*3pm – Car show awards at Heartland Mall.
