BCSO_LogoThursday evening around 6:30pm, Cpl Pete Bastardo of the Brown County Sheriff’s office was following up on an investigation, which resulted in a woman and the passenger in her car being charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Sheriff’s Department officials said that the ongoing investigation involved 28-year-old Vianey Delgado Najera of Brownwood who agreed to meet Cpl. Pete Bastardo for further questioning in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  It was noted by the Sheriff’s Department that Cpl. Bastardo was aware of an outstanding warrant Najera had for her arrest out of Tarrant County for violating probation.  Upon meeting her at the parking lot as planned, he arrested her for this warrant.

Sheriff officials said that as Najera was arrested, she consented to a search of her vehicle where scales and methamphetamine was found.  The methamphetamines were packaged in equal amounts, which is indicative of drug trafficking officials said. 21-year-old John Anthony Martinez, Jr., who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested.

Both Najera and Martinez were each charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone.  Wal-Mart is a drug-free zone due to its having an arcade on the premises.
