
TUSCOLA – Reigning Class 3A state finalist Jim Ned handed the Class 4A No. 13 Brownwood Lady Lions just their second loss of the season by a 51-36 count Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions (7-2) struggled offensively and were outscored 28-15 in the second half after being down just a bucket at the break.
Brownwood shot a mere 28 percent (12 of 43) from the floor, with four three-pointers, and only 53 percent (8 of 15) from the free throw line. The Lady Lions also committed 19 turnovers and grabbed just 20 rebounds.
Jim Ned (3-6) opened a 13-9 lead after one quarter, which stood at 23-21 at halftime, and grew to 35-26 through three periods.
The Lady Lions received 11 points from Nylah Hall, six each from Icess Hall and Hannah Deen, four from Trinity Roberts, three from Demayha Hooker, and two points from Jentry Coalson.
Brownwood is back in action at the Lorena tournament Thursday through Saturday with games against College Station, Hutto, Lubbock Liberty and host Lorena.
