CityofBrownwoodlogo_smallThe City of Brownwood Parks and Recreation Department announced that the opening of the Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center has been delayed due to weather prohibiting a scheduled pool repair.

There is a new liner being installed in the pool, which was scheduled to be complete in time to open the pool on May 31st; however, the work cannot be completed in rain or high humidity, according to Parks and Recreation Department Director David Withers.  Current weather conditions have prohibited the completion of installing the liner this week.  Once the pool liner is installed, the pool will open and the public will be notified, said Withers.   He explained that it will only take four consecutive days of sunshine and low humidity to complete the project.

In the meantime, Wiggin Pool located at 1100 Victoria will be opening Tuesday, May 31st.  While the Camp Bowie Pool is closed, the city will extend the hours for the Wiggins Pool to Tuesday through Sunday from 10:15 am till 5:45 pm. There is no admission fee for Wiggins Pool.

Upon the opening of the Camp Bowie Pool, hours for each facility will be posted.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, and will compete the project as soon as the weather allows,” Withers stated.

For more information or questions, call David Withers at (325)646-0146.
