Brown County District Clerk, Cheryl Jones has filed her candidacy for re-election seeking a fourth term. Jones said she is running to continue promoting public confidence and goodwill by providing the very highest level of courteous, efficient service. She also hopes to continue providing the highest possible degree of integrity of the County’s records and management of records along with the business practices in a uniform, consistent and accessible manner.

Jones was elected in 2014 as the Brown County District Clerk. During her time in office, she has implemented Efiling for both civil and criminal cases making filing more convenient for the public and the courts, digitized every filing that comes through her office. She has completed preservation projects restoring historical records in both civil and criminal cases dating back to the mid 1800’s, digitizing all microfiche records. She is in the process of bringing her office into a new era with software and technology implementing new software to better serve the public. She has also implemented a new jury program making the jury process more streamlined and efficient for both jurors and the courts.

Jones was voted by her fellow clerks to serve on the Executive Board of the County and District Clerk Association of Texas in 2024 where she now serves as Treasurer. She is a Certified Court Manager accredited through the International Court Management Program and Center for the Judiciary of the State of Texas. Jones also serves as the Republican Party Secretary and serves on the Board for the Derrick Doll Alumni Association. In addition, she has also served as Brown County Republican Women President, Vice President and Secretary. She also served as a delegate at the Republican State convention in 2014.

Jones credits her team as the foundation, heart and soul of the District Clerk’s office and the courthouse. She states, “I am honored and privileged to have a team so dedicated to serving the public with pride and to have had the opportunity to serve as your Brown County District Clerk. I hope to continue serving Brown County.”
