
The State of Texas Seventh Administrative Judicial Region of Texas on Nov. 25 issued an order of assignment by the presiding judge, which was posted at the Brown County Courthouse.
Pursuant to Section 74.056, Texas Government Code, the undersigned presiding judge assigns the Honorable Frank E. Griffin, Retired Judge of the Brown County Court-at-Law, to the County Court of Brown County, Texas. Griffin is assigned to preside over the judicial functions of the office, but won’t have anything to do with the administrative functions of the office.
The judge is assigned beginning Nov. 25 through Feb. 28, 2026. If the judge begins a trial on the merits during the period of his assignment, the assignment continues in such case until plenary power has expired or the undersigned Presiding Judge has terminated this assignment in writing, whichever occurs first.
It is ordered that the Clerk of the Court to which this assignment is made, if it is reasonable and practicable, and if time permits, give notice of this assignment to each attorney representing a party to a case that is to be heard in whole or in part by the assigned judge.
It is further ordered that the Clerk, upon recipient hereof, shall post a copy of this order in a public area of the Clerk’s office or courthouse so that attorneys and parties may be advised of this assignment.

Brown County Judge Shane Britton was arrested Nov. 24 on five charges – tampering with evidence, hindering apprehension of a criminal suspect, tampering with a witness, abuse of a public office, and assault of a public servant – and has since been suspended.
