Dr. Gail J. Harris

HarrisGailDr. Gail J. Harris, of May, Texas moved into her eternal home on Sunday, May 15, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Gail was born in Dallas, Texas on September 6, 1947 to Wilfred and Goldie Henderson Mosher.

Family Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Heartland Funeral Home, Early, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at May First Baptist Church, May, Texas. Burial will follow at Wolf Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

In 1970, She married Jim Bob Harris. They were blessed with two sons, Preston Harris, and Erin Harris. Gail was a lifelong educator. Prior to retirement she taught at different schools in the Corpus Christi area. She obtained her PhD from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, Texas. After retirement, she enjoyed substituting at the Early Independent School District. She loved her students and they loved her.

Gail was an active member of the May First Baptist Church, where she loved to work with TeamKids. One of her great loves was baking, for family and friends.

Everyone that knew Gail will remember her steadfast faith and hope. She never complained during her illness and inspired hope in others through her example of courage and love.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim Bob Harris, son Preston Harris of Corpus Christi, Texas, son Erin Harris and Melinda Kasper and daughters Paige and Nikki of Wimberley, Texas. Melinda, Paige, and Nikki were an important part of her life. She loved them dearly. She is survived by brother Jerry and wife Dora Henderson of Coppell and sister-in-law Carol Henderson of Hamilton. Also sisters-in-law Jeanie Hardy and husband Eddie, Sharon Ferguson and husband Phillip, and brother-in-law Wayne Harris, all from May, Texas and several nieces, nephews, and uncles.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Paul Henderson.
