Richland Springs 62, Calvert 0

BLUM – The Class A Division II No. 3 Richland Springs Coyotes rolled to a 62-0 bi-district victory over the Calvert Trojans Thursday night, kicking off the postseason portion of their quest for a 10th state championship.

Richland Springs (10-1) jumped out to a 46-0 lead after one quarter over Calvert (4-6) as the Coyotes received three special teams touchdowns – all by Cohen Ethridge – who returned a kick 75 yards for six points as well as two punt returns of 45 and 40 yards.

Billy Perry rushed for a 25-yard touchdown and also threw a 22-yard touchdown to Ethan Deeds, who tossed a 4-yard touchdown pass to Layne Ward. Trendon Vogel tacked on a 41-yard rushing score for Richland Springs.

Defensively, Deeds intercepted a pair passes to highlight the Richland Springs effort.

The Coyotes will next face Zephyr (10-1) – a 53-8 winner over Evant Thursday – at 6:30 p.m. Friday in San Saba in the Class A Division II Region IV semifinals.

Oglesby 54, Blanket 12

PRIDDY – The Blanket Tigers’ season ended in the opening round of the playoffs for the second year in a row, again at the hands of Oglesby, 54-12, in a Class A Division II Region IV bi-district contest.

District 13 runner-up Blanket (8-3) finished with 294 yards of total offense – 243 rushing and 51 passing – against District 14 champion Oglesby (10-1), but turned over the ball three times.

Kannon Kensing rushed for 203 yards and both Blanket touchdowns, while Mason Beck chipped in 41 yards on the ground and 31 yards through the air. Brian Shannon added 13 yards passing and an 8-yard catch, while Karter Keel hauled in two receptions for 15 yards and Cole Furry pulled down a 14-yard reception.

Defensively for the Tigers, Beck recorded a team-high 11 tackles followed by Kensing with 10, Shannon with six, Ethan Tomme with four, Abel McLaughlin with three and Alex Valdez recovered a fumble.

Rosebud-Lott 31, San Saba 7

MANOR – The San Saba Armadillos continue their search for their first postseason victory since 2019 following Friday night’s 31-7 loss to Rosebud-Lott in the Class 2A Division I Region IV bi-district round of the playoffs.

District 14 third seed San Saba (6-5) manufactured 157 yards – all on the ground – while District 13 runner-up Rosebud-Lott (9-2) produced 304 yards, with 272 coming on the ground.

San Saba received 73 yards and a touchdown from Jason Everett, 49 yards from Luke Tharp, 21 yards from Graden Lebow, and 14 yards from Enrique Mendoza.

Defensively for the Armadillos, Lebow logged 10 tackles with two for loss, followed by nine from Melvin Umble, seven from Everett, five from Adrian Perez, and five tackles and an interception from Tharp.

Rosebud-Lott’s Zaylon Wells rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Pryce Rabroker added 81 yards and a score on the ground as well.
