
At Tuesday’s meeting of the Board of Directors of the Brown County Water Improvement District, Ann Jones was appointed by the Board to a vacant seat on the Board. Jones is the owner and Broker of Ann Jones Real Estate. She is filling the vacant seat of her husband Jimmy Jones, who passed away in September, after serving on the Board since January 2014. Ann Jones was then named to two committees of the Board: the Lake Recreation, Water Shed, and Environmental Committee; and the Real Estate, Oil, and Gas Committee. Board Member Brad Simpson was elected as Secretary of the Board.
The Board also approved a Resolution honoring Jimmy Jones, which is shown below.
The Board approved a list of Irrigation Rates and other charges for 2026. All rates and charges will remain the same for next year, with the exception of the Irrigation Rate, which was lowered to $60.00 per acre foot, a decrease from the current rate of $62.00 per acre foot.
District Manager John Allen reported that the elevation of Lake Brownwood is currently 1,422-ft., which is 3-feet below full, and represents 85.5% of lake capacity. The capacity average of lakes statewide is currently 73.3%.
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF BROWN COUNTY WATER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1
HONORING JIMMY C. JONES
Whereas, Jimmy Charles Jones was a lifelong servant of the Brownwood community, known for his entrepreneurial spirit, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to public service; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones left a lasting impression on the community and all those he served with; his contributions including a 25-year membership of the Brownwood Kiwanis Club, where he served as President and Lieutenant Governor; 15 years of service to the Brown County Appraisal Appeal Board; and leadership roles at First Methodist Church Brownwood; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones served with distinction of the Board of the Brown County Water Improvement District No. 1 for 11 years, contributing his time, insight, and leadership to the responsible stewardship of District’s water resources; and
Whereas, the District is stronger thanks to to Mr. Jones’ discernment on critical issues, his keen financial acumen, and his loyalty to his constituents and District property; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones passed away on September 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness, leaving behind a legacy of service, humor, mentorship, and love for his family, friends, and community;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Board of Directors of the Brown County Water District No. 1 does hereby honor the life and legacy of Jimmy C. Jones, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the District and the greater Brownwood community.
Be it Further Resolved, that this resolution be entered into the official record of the District and a copy be presented to his family as a token of our deep appreciation and respect.
