Carol Taylor McHorse, 81, of San Saba, Texas, joined her Lord in Heaven on October 24, 2025 at the Bangs Nursing Home in Bangs, Texas. A Memorial Service for Carol will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Tx. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.
Carol was born on November 20, 1943 to George and Cozett Tyler in San Saba, Texas. She married Tommy Frank Taylor in San Saba on March 3, 1961. Carol and Tommy had been married 43 years at the time of his passing. Carol met Bill McHorse in 2016 and on February 14, 2017, they exchanged wedding vows in San Saba with the ceremony being officiated by Bill’s brother, George McHorse.
Carol loved her family dearly and was especially proud of her only granddaughter, Cheza Taylor. She never got tired of watching the music videos of Cheza playing her guitar and was always amazed at her talent.
She loved to laugh and enjoyed playing card games, word games on the computer and playing Scrabble board games, which she usually won. Her favorite video game to play was Pac-Man on the Atari. She was an avid reader and kept up with most of the reality TV shows. Carol also liked to crochet and made many afghans and hats for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Bill McHorse, of San Saba, Texas; one son, Derek Taylor, and wife, Brandy, of Garland, Texas; one granddaughter, Cheza Taylor of Austin, Texas; one sister, Bonnie Tyler Permenter and husband, Dale of China Spring,Texas; one stepson, Lee McHorse of San Saba; one stepdaughter, Lisa Foster of Brownwood, Texas; two nieces, DeLaina Shahan and husband Chris Baumgardt of Eugene, Oregon, Kathy Tyler Deffee, and husband Steve of San Antonio, Texas; one nephew, Jaron Shahan, and wife Nikki of San Saba; three great-nieces, Jordan Rayne Shahan and Justice DeLaine Shahan of San Saba, Kimberly Deffee Mills, and husband Brad of LaVernia, Texas; one great-nephew, Steven Andrew Deffee of Austin, Texas; one great-great-nephew, Colton Mills of LaVernia; one great-great-niece, Kaisley Mills, of LaVernia; one sister-in-law, Nancy Hearne, and husband, Cliff of San Angelo, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Tommy Taylor; one brother, Carl Tyler and sister-in-law Mary Ann; one nephew, Clyde M. Tyler; one niece, Carla Tyler Price; one great-nephew, Timothy Carl Royal.
