Bangs volleyball notches first district victory in five sets at De Leon

Cameryn Harmon (5) and the rest of the Lady Dragons (8-24, 1-6) host Hamilton Friday in the 5-2A finale

DE LEON – The Bangs Lady Dragons registered their first District 5-2A volleyball victory of the season Tuesday night with a five-set 27-29, 17-25, 25-14, 25-16, 15-11 come-from-behind victory at De Leon.

Ashlynn Sliger recorded 16 kills followed by Cameryn Harmon with 14, Karlyee Sliger with nine, Justice Baker with five, Stormy Stringer with four, Cricket Caulkins with two, and Aubrey Martin with one.

Baker distributed 30 assists with nine coming from Caulkins and one by Karlyee Sliger.

Cloey Petty served three aces, trailed by Baker with two and Ashlynn Sliger and Adalynne Stephens – who competed at the regional cross country meet in Lubbock earlier Tuesday – with one each.

Defensively, Petty notched 29 digs followed by Baker with 27, Kylee Byler with 12, Stephens and Stringer with 10 apiece, Karlyee Sliger with six, Ashlynn Sliger with five, Lily Boren with four, Caulkins with three, and Martin with one.

At the net, Ashlynn Sliger tallied the lone block for Bangs.

The Lady Dragons (8-24, 1-6) will host Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. Friday to wrap up the District 5-2A schedule.
