CommCtArticle2014Brown County Commissioners approved an interlocal agreement on Monday to help the City of Early resurface a small portion of County Road 292, Jenkins Springs Road.

Early City Administrator Tony Aaron brought the interlocal agreement for the court to consider, explaining that county crews were already resurfacing a portion of County Road 292 and the Early City Council wished to have the 0.3 mile stretch of the roadway, from the intersection of US Hwy 377 to the city limits, resurfaced while the county crews were working in the area.  The agreement states that the City of Early would pay up to $6000 for the county to provide the materials, equipment and labor to apply a single layer of seal coat to the city’s portion of the road.  The City of Early would continue to be responsible for the maintenance of this portion of the roadway.

Precinct 1 Commissioners Wayne Shaw stated that his foreman had worked with Aaron to figure the cost and that the precinct crews should be able to pave the remaining 0.3 mile portion of CR 292, which is within the city, for the $6000 estimate.

Aaron stated that the City of Early and Brown County have worked a similar agreement in the past.

In other matters on Monday’s agenda:

*Sherry Clark of the Brown County Child Welfare Board received approval from the court of Jill Evans as a new member of the Brown County Child Welfare Board.

*Wayne Shaw, Commissioner Precinct 3, received approval to make an even trade with no monetary exchange of a Hamm 2420D single drum roller, a SK80CS-IE mini excavator, a 2006 Eager Beaver 20XPT trailer and a 2006 Davis PDT 12-17 pup trailer for a pre-owned CAT motorgrader from Centex Equipment Sales in Early.  Shaw stated that the items traded were estimated in 2009 to have a value of $99,000 which had not changed to date.

*Commissioners approved an application request by Wayne Shaw Precinct 3 for the installation of a private line by Zephyr Water Supply Corporation on County Road 294.  The installation will be to county specs, and will require a cut in a dirt roadway, according to Shaw.
