Walt O. Dietderich

Walt O. Dietderich, age 79 of Midland, Texas passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025. Born on March 27, 1946, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Walt lived a full and generous life dedicated to his family, faith, service and community. 

Walt graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph in 1964. That same year, he joined the United States Navy, proudly serving from 1964 to 1972. During his military service, he earned commendations, including the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V” and the Veteran Service Medal, reflecting his courage, commitment, and dedication. 

After his military service, Walt worked in the wire rope industry from 1973 to 1991. He later pursued a career in nursing, earning his LVN ( Licensed Vocational Nurse) from Midland College. He continued to serve the community through his work at Manor Park in Midland and Parks Methodist in Odessa until his retirement. 

Walt married the love of his life, Theresa Tucker Dietderich on June 29, 1973, in Midland Texas. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith and service. Walt was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church for over 20 years and an active participant at the Midland Senior Center, always giving back to the community he loved. 

Known affectionately by his many nicknames: Walt, Deac, Bo and W.O.  Walt was a loyal friend, a loving family man and a generous soul. His generous spirit was felt by all who met him, and he was always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word or share a laugh. Whether golfing, fishing or bowling, Walt always brought warmth and kindness to those around him. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Theresa (Teri) Ann Dietderich; daughter-in-law, Rhonda L. Dietderich; sister Cora Sue Kaufman; and brothers, Ted William, Edward Lawrence, and Keith Dale and wife, Rhonda J. Dietderich. Also surviving are his in-laws, Jimmy and Sandy Tucker, Mary Carre’, Liz and James Townsend, Steve and Teresa Tucker, Tom Tucker, and Stephana and Marc Sanderson. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, dear friends and loved ones.

Walt was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Wayne Dietderich; sister, Dorothy Wilfong; brother, Chester Lloyd Dietderich; his mother, Hazel E. Hale and step-father Ralph Hale; and father, Theodore R. Dietderich. 

Walt’s legacy of love, service and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. 

There will be a rosary service Thursday October 9, 2025 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland, Texas at 1906 West Texas Ave. at 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held Friday October 10, 2025 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Burial will be scheduled at a later date at Santa Anna, Texas.
