May 68, Iredell 13

MAY – The Class A Division I No. 3 May Tigers collected a third straight victory for homecoming, rolling past the Iredell Dragons, 68-13, Friday night.

May (4-1) received the following standout performances: Lane Goodson (3 tackles 1 interception, 23 rushing yards, 2 TDs); Kayden Psencik (3 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 12 rushing yards, 1 TD), Mikey Scheriger (1 tackle, 30 rushing yards, 1 TD), Kobey Morris (23 rushing yards, 65 passing yards, 1 passing TD), Kaden Watkins (2 tackles, 21 receiving yards, 1 TD), Jackson Lusk (1 tackle, 1 forced fumble, 9 rushing yards, 1 TD), Ty McInnis (1 tackle, 18 passing yards), Cayson Dail (21 passing yards, 1 passing TD), Brody Stice (1 tackle, 65 receiving yards 1 TD), Britton Morrow  (1 tackle), Beckam Morrow (75 rushing yards, 1 TD), Gabriel Collins (30 rushing yards, 1 TD), and Jesse Thrasher (18 receiving yards).

Next week, the Tigers head to Irion County (1-4), which suffered an 88-6 loss to Klondike Friday night.

Blanket 58, Throckmorton 0

THROCKMORTON – The Blanket Tigers earned a fourth consecutive victory thanks in part to their second straight shutout as they cruised past the winless Throckmorton Greyhounds, 58-0, Friday night.

Blanket (4-1) produced 361 yards of total offense – 273 rushing and 88 passing – against the Throckmorton (0-4) defense.

Mason Beck rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 38 yards and another touchdown, while Kannon Kensing chipped in 128 yards and two trips to the end zone, while passing for 13 yards and grabbing a 5-yard reception

Leo Valdez threw for just 8 yards, but with two scoring tosses. Karter Keel led the Tigers with two catches for 38 yards, both touchdowns, and Kade Russell finished with two receptions for 3 yards with one score. Other Tigers who caught a pass were Brian Shannon (29 yards) and AC French (13 yards).

Defensively standouts for Blanket were Kensing with six tackles; Beck with four and two interceptions; Shannon with four and a fumble recovery; Abel McLaughlin with four; Keel, Russell, Brayden Cain and Ethan Tomme with two each; and French, Cole Furry and Gunner Jones with one tackle apiece.

Next week, Blanket plays host to Woodson (0-5), which fell to Bryson, 58-6, Friday night.

San Saba 17, Hamilton 14

SAN SABA – A more than two-touchdown underdog Friday night, the San Saba Armadillos stunned the Hamilton Bulldogs, 17-14, to notch their second win in a row and move back above .500 for the season heading into district play

The Armadillos (3-2) manufactured 242 yards of total offense against Hamilton (3-2), with 220 coming on the ground, as Luke Tharp finished with 104 yards and a touchdown and Jason Everett chipped in 101 rushing yards.

JJ Romero completed 4 of 6 passes for 22 yards with Danny English pulling down a 14-yard catch, Tharp adding a 7-yard reception, and Graden Lebow nabbing two receptions totaling 1 yard.

Defensively for San Saba, Luke Tharp returned a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown and also tallied nine tackles. Everett and Kolton Pierce joined Tharp with nine tackles as well, followed by Kaylub Roberts with eight, and English and Melvin Umble with six apiece. Jayden Aguirre also recovered a fumble for San Saba, and logged five tackles.

San Saba’s bye falls next week, then the Armadillos kick off District 14-2A Division I competition Oct. 10 against Johnson City (3-2), which defeated Thrall, 41-18, Friday night.

Cross Plains 32, Sterling City 13

STERLING CITY – In their final outing prior to the start of the District 7-2A Division II schedule, the Cross Plains Buffaloes secured a 32-13 victory over the Sterling City Eagles Friday night, snapping a two-game skid.

Cross Plains (2-3) needed just 215 yards of total offense, with 212 coming on the ground, to get past Sterling City (0-5), as the Buffalo defense yielded only 132 total, including 118 rushing. Both teams turned over the ball twice.

Kye Schuman rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns for Cross Plains, while Tyler Mackey also finished with 98 yards on the ground with two trips to the end zone. Landry Sevell added 14 yards on the ground and completed 1 of 2 passes for 3 yards to Mackey.

Defensively for Cross Plains, Colt Sanderson recorded 15 tackles followed by Lawson Brown with 11, Mackey with eight, Rylen Reed with five tackles and a sack, while Savell intercepted a pass and Brody Harris recovered a fumble.

The Buffaloes are off until Friday, Oct. 10 when they begin their district state at home against Roscoe (0-5).

Santa Anna 50, Priddy 0

SANTA ANNA – The Santa Anna Mountaineers picked up their second win of the season, both coming in the last three weeks, as they blanked the Priddy Pirates, 50-0, Friday night.

Santa Anna (2-3) rushed for 289 of its 324 yards of total offense, as Jayden Gibson churned out 217 yards and five touchdowns of 53, 23, 4, 14 and 54 yards. Jordan Diggs added 72 yards and scored on a 45-yard scamper.

Through the air Brock Brown connected on just 1 of 6 passes, but that was a 35-yard scoring strike to Eddie York. Brown was also picked off once.

Defensive standouts for the Mountaineers were Brown with 13 tackles trailed by Diggs with nine, Tony Blaine with six, Donovan Jackson with five, and Gibson with four.

Next week, Santa Anna ventures to Zephyr (4-1), which is coming off its first loss of the season to Strawn, 86-38.

Rising Star 40, Gorman 36 (Saturday night)

RISING STAR – The Rising Star Wildcats halted a two-game skid and returned to the win column with a 46-36 homecoming victory Saturday night.

Offensive standouts for Rising Star (3-2) were JV Kelly with 213 rushing yards and four touchdowns to go along with 99 passing yards and another score, and three catches for 44 yards. Chance Wells added 78 yards and a touchdown on the ground and 74 yards through the air. Leland Schenk caught three passes for 46 yards, Juakeen Froese added three catches for 29 yards with a touchdown, Kason McGinn grabbed three receptions for 24 yards, and Pacey McGinn pulled down a 35-yard reception

Leading the way defensively against Gorman (1-4) were Kelly with 14 tackles, a fumble recovery and an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown. Wells also finished with 14 tackles, Schenk and Kasen McGinn contributed 13 tackles each, Frose added seven tackles and picked off a pass, while Kaiden Griffith tallied four tackles, Richie Primm notched three tackles and Bryan Lopez recorded one tackle.

Next week, Rising Star visits Priddy (1-4), which is coming off 50-0 loss to Santa Anna.

Strawn 86, Zephyr 38

STRAWN – The Zephyr Bulldogs were knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten as the Class A Division II No. 8 Strawn Greyhounds earned an 86-38 victory Friday night.

Zephyr (4-1) amassed 441 yards of total offense – 266 passing and 175 rushing – but turned the ball over four times, while Strawn (4-1) finished with 508 yards – 385 on the ground and 123 through the air – with no turnovers.

Chayden Woodcock caught 10 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown, threw a 4-yard touchdowns, and rushed for 51 yards. Quadye Heard passed for 194 yards and rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown, while CJ Byers added 46 yards and two touchdowns on the ground along with five receptions for 33 yards with a trip to the end zone. Spencer Marwitz threw for 68 yards and a touchdown, Jetson Gowin caught two passes for 33 yards and Wyatt Frank added two receptions for 22 yards.

Defensively, Woodcock tallied nine tackles followed by Gowin with five and Ethan Prochaska with four.

Next week, Zephyr is back home against Santa Anna (2-3), which chalked up a 50-0 victory over Priddy Friday night.

Collinsville 44, Coleman 20

BRECKENRIDGE – The Coleman Bluecats concluded their pre-district slate of games with a fourth consecutive setback, 44-20 to the Class 2A Division II No. 10 Collinsville Pirates in neutral site action Friday.

Coleman (1-4) finished with 249 yards of total offense – 185 through the air and 64 on the ground – as Hunter Edington passed for 185 yards with three touchdowns and one interception against the Collinsville (4-1) defense.

Paul Salas caught three passes for 28 yards with two trips to the end zone, while Micah Lackey led all Bluecats with six grabs for 124 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Chambers added five catches for 13 yards and Jayden Smith pulled down three receptions for 10 yards.

On the ground, Salas rushed for 41 yards, Chambers added 14 and Edington tacked on 4 yards.

Defensively, the Bluecats were led by Easton Meador’s 10 tackles, with one for loss; nine tackles each from Lackey and Brady Elder; seven apiece from Gio Villanueva and Jett Black; and six each from Chambers and Lane Bowers.

Coleman is off next week, then starts District 5-2A Division I competition Oct. 10 at home against Hamilton (3-2), which suffered a 17-14 loss to San Saba Friday night.

Chilton 14, Goldthwaite 0

CHILTON – The Goldthwaite Eagles opened District 10-2A Division II action with a 14-0 road loss against the No. 8 Chilton Pirates Friday night.

Goldthwaite (2-2, 0-1) mustered just 155 yards of total offense – 87 passing and 68 rushing – while Chilton (4-0, 1-0) produced 251 yards – 221 on the ground and 30 through the air – with the game’s only turnover.

Aidyn Lee completed 11 of 27 passes for 87 for Goldthwaite, Landry Sanderson rushed for 73 yards on 20 carries, Casen Wiedebusch caught five passes for 62 yards, and Zach Rodriguez added three receptions for 26 yards.

Next week, Goldthwaite plays its first district home game against Hubbard (2-2, 0-1), which is coming off a 10-6 loss to Meridian Friday night.

Ranger 55, Mullin 33

RANGER – The Mullin Bulldogs were denied back-to-back victories as they fell on the road to the Ranger Bulldogs, 55-33, Friday night.

Mullin (1-4) finished with 259 total yards – 132 rushing and 127 passing – against the Ranger (3-2) defense.

Mani Morales threw for 121 yards and a touchdown and added 63 yards on the ground and two more scores. Vash Langford rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 26 yards and reached the end zone once. Toby Kuhn pulled down two receptions for 30 yards and scored once, while Jaiden Langford added four catches for 66 yards and Aaron Porter rushed for 25 yards.

Defensively, Morales led Mullin with seven tackles with an interception, Johnathan Armendarez netted 4.5 tackles and recovered a fumble, Kuhn logged three tackles, and Lucas Cook registered 2.5 tackles.

Next week, Mullin visits Lohn (2-3), which is coming off a 54-0 loss to Three Way.

Paint Creek 54, Panther Creek 7

PAINT CREEK – The Panther Creek Panthers experienced defeat for just the second time in 2025 Friday night, falling to the Paint Creek Pirates, 54-7.

Panther Creek (3-2) mustered 124 yards of total offense – 72 through the air and 52 on the ground – against Paint Creek (4-1).

Adan Wyatt returned a kick 64 yards for the lone Panther touchdown and also caught three passes for 62 yards, rushed for 23 yards, and threw for 10 yards on a completion to Carter Vogel. Caleb Hale tacked on 62 passing yards, and Caleb Storey rushed for 47 yards.

Defensively, Storey tallied eight tackles followed by Wyatt with seven, Aidan Patterson with four, Trever Brooks with three, Hale and Blayder Wilber with two apiece, and Jonah Torres with one tackle.

Next week, Panther Creek ventures to Blackwell (0-5), which suffered a 58-8 loss to Highland Friday night.

Cherokee 46, Sidney 0

SIDNEY – The Sidney Eagles dropped a fourth straight decision Friday night, falling to the Class A Division II No. 5 Cherokee Indians, 46-0.

Standouts for Sidney (1-4) against Cherokee (5-0) were Ethan Scantling, who rushed for 80 yards, passed for 30 yards and tallied seven tackles; Josh Heath, who caught a 38-yard pass, rushed for 6 yards, and notched 4 tackles; Ryan Crawford, who finished with 10 tackles and 4 yards rushing; Dylan Terpstra with 8 tackles; JD Pounds with 5 tackles; and Nick Aldape with 4 tackles.

Sidney is off until Oct. 17 when it open District 13-A Division II action at Rising Star (3-2).
