
EARLY – The Early Longhorns’ first home game since opening night wasn’t the joyous occasion they had hoped for, as the Comanche Indians dished out a fourth straight loss, and collected their third win in a row in the process, in a 34-7 decision Friday at Longhorn Stadium
Early (1-4) was limited to 194 yards of total offense in its homecoming game, with one turnover. The Longhorns finished with 144 yards on the ground and 50 through the air against the Comanche (3-2) defense.
Quarterback Caden Wilson connected on 6 of 15 passes for 50 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Longhorns. Andrew Reedy caught five passes for 48 yards and scored once, while Aiden Driskill nabbed a 2-yard reception.
Isaac Ybarra chalked up a team-high 73 yards rushing for Early followed by 49 from Cameron Love and 22 from Wilson.
The Indians generated 359 total yards – 230 rushing and 129 passing.
Ladanian Smith rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns for Comanche while Zayden Tello contributed 89 yards on the ground and reached the end zone twice.
Through the air, Cooper Welch completed 10 of 15 passes for 129 yards, with nine going to CT Buford who finished with 102 receiving yards. Adrian Reyes added a 27-yard reception for the Indians.
The Longhorns and Indians both have their byes next week prior to opening district action on Friday, Oct. 10. Early will host reigning District 5-3A Division II champion Tolar (2-3) – which fell to Breckenridge, 19-12, Friday – while Comanche visits fellow reigning District 3-3A Division I tri-champion Jim Ned (4-1), which downed Holliday, 48-20, Friday.
