It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved Carolyn Virginia Perry, who left this world peacefully on September 21, 2025, at the age of 87, in Brownwood, Texas. A visitation for Carolyn will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Cherokee Baptist Church in Cherokee, Tx. A funeral service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Bro. Ross Ellis. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Tx. Carolyn was born on January 14, 1938, in San Saba, Texas, to Currie Porter Spinks and Naomi Coriene Dewey Spinks, and she spent her life as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and a friend to many. Carolyn’s legacy is one of love, faith, and unwavering dedication. She is survived by her adoring husband of 70 years, Charles Nolan Perry, and their two children, Lester Kirk Perry and his wife, Darlene, of Newburg, Texas and Brenda Kay Silva and her husband, Robert, of Brownwood, Texas, her brother Beverly Spinks and his wife Joyce of Abilene, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was a proud and loving grandmother and great-grandmother to her grandchildren, Kody Silva, Kelcie Silva, Fawn Perry, Starla Hidrogo, and Misty Terpstra, and five great-grandchildren. Her life touched the hearts of many, and her memory will be held forever in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bobby Spinks and his wife Peggy and Billy Spinks and his wife Deanie, and her sister Bonnie Spinks Hamerick and her husband Weldon. A graduate of San Saba High School, Carolyn went on to dedicate 33 years of her life as a Teacher’s Aid in the Cherokee Independent School District, where she was a constant presence of encouragement, kindness, and strength for generations of students. Her love for teaching was only surpassed by her love for her family and her faith. She was a member of the Cherokee Baptist Church for over 67 years, where her Christian values shone brightly in everything she did. Carolyn was also an accomplished quilter and loved crocheting, crafts she poured her heart into, creating beautiful works of art that will be treasured by her loved ones for years to come. Her crafts, like her life, were tapestries of love and care, each stitch a reflection of her patience and her enduring spirit. She also had special gift for capturing life’s simple joys through her photography, especially in the smiles of her grandchildren and the blue bonnets that marked each spring. |
| Though Carolyn’s battle with breast cancer was difficult, she faced it with the same courage, grace, and faith that defined her entire life. She now rests in peace, surrounded by the love of those she held dear.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carolyn’s name to the American Cancer Society, so that her legacy of hope and strength may continue to touch the lives of others. Carolyn will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service to others will never be forgotten. Pallbearers: Robert Baugh, Kevin Scott, Michael Randolph, Calvin Hector, Gunner Baugh, and James Pafford. Honorary Pallbearers: Roddy Maddox, Larry Crum, James Low, and Avery Johnson. |
