Wanda Ragsdale Cockrell, born on November 26, 1939, in Bluff Dale, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman, Texas. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, whose life was a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to family and friends.

Growing up in Erath County, Wanda attended school there and developed a kind and giving personality that would leave a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. She possessed a heart of gold, always eager to share her love through thoughtful gestures. If you ever met Wanda, there is a good chance you received a card from her in the mail. She was fervent about sending out cards for births, funerals, weddings, and just because she was thinking of you. This lost ritual, which she embraced wholeheartedly, always brought a smile to the recipient’s face.

Wanda cherished her role as a devoted wife and mother, and her proudest accomplishments included the love she shared within her family. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ was evident in her everyday life, shining brightly through her warm smile and generous spirit. She was a dedicated member of the Baptist faith, having been a part of Harmony Baptist Church in Fisk and later First Baptist Church in Coleman. Wanda enjoyed being involved with her church family, particularly in The Unity Sunday School class, and her steadfast faith in the Lord was a source of strength until her passing.

Wanda is survived by her siblings, Kenneth Dobbs, David Dobbs, and Michael Dobbs. She is also remembered by many friends and her beloved First Baptist Church family. She is joined in heaven by her parents, Frederick Wayne Dobbs and Hazel Marie Like Dobbs; her two husbands, Sherrill Ragsdale, and Jack Wayne Cockrell; her son, Brett Lee Ragsdale; and one brother, Dickie Dobbs.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Stevens Funeral Home, located at 400 W Pecan Street, in Coleman with Dr. Chas Shira, pastor at First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.

Wanda’s legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are greatly encouraged to the Coleman Senior Center, P.O. Box 785, Coleman, Texas 76834 or to First Baptist Church, 200 E. College Avenue, Coleman, Texas 76834.

We invite you to share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Cockrell family by signing the guestbook on Wanda’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cockrell family.
