Ruth Archer, age 101, of Coleman, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman.  Graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Bangs Cemetery with Rev. Don Harmes officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Ruth Isabel Tervooren on August 14, 1914 in the McDaniel community in Brown County, Texas, a daughter of Henry Jacob Tervooren and Barbara Heitzler Tervooren.  She grew up in Brown and Coleman Counties and attended school in Bangs.  On October 17, 1931 she married Bill L. Archer in Bangs and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1993.  She worked as a substitute teacher at the Buffalo School in Coleman County, as well as a nurse’s aide at the Bangs Nursing Home.  She was also a care-giver for Dr. M. E.  Weaver for several years.  She was Presbyterian.

Survivors include one son, Bobby Clawson of Bangs; two grandchildren, Len Clawson and wife Sylvia of Coleman, Tessa Brandstetter and husband Tony; six grandchildren, Sean and wife Amanda Clawson, Sara and husband Matt Dillard, David and wife Chelsey Gray, Nikki Gray, Ted and Becca Dobbins; three great-grandchildren; one nephew and one niece, Larry and wife Celia Drury and Burlene and husband Johnny Curry all of Bangs.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
