Billie Garrett Roddie, age 77, of Brady, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, in Brady. Billie was born on October 22, 1947, in Brady, to Hume Poston Roddie and Ila Ruth (Andrews) Roddie. Billie grew up and was a lifelong resident of Brady. He attended Brady High School, graduating in 1966. He attended San Angelo State University and Tarleton State University, earning his degree in Animal Husbandry. Upon graduating, he was drafted into the US Army in February 1971. He served in Vietnam and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to Brady where he began the ranching profession. His true passion was farming and ranching. Over decades, he raised livestock on the Roddie Ranch as well as many other leased ranches across McCulloch County. He also worked in Ranch construction which he found to be extremely rewarding, seeing a vision come together upon completion of a project or job. He very much enjoyed vegetable gardening at his home. Billie also loved hunting, fishing, and telling stories with family and friends at the Ranch. He loved his family, his friends, and the Lord deeply. His relationship with the Lord flourished as he aged. He was a member of the Brady Methodist Church.

Billie Roddie’s wish was for his remains to be cremated and that his cremated remains were to be buried at the Brady Cemetery alongside his son, Will, and other family members. A Celebration of Life service will be 10:00am Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at the Brady Methodist Church with Reverend Cody Dykes officiating. Friends may view Billie’s Memorial Video Tribute and/or sign his online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.

Billie is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Joyce Roddie, of Brady, Texas; son Garrett Roddie and wife Julie of Aledo, Texas; grandchildren Wes Roddie and Kate Roddie; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Will Roddie, and two brothers, Robert and Jackie Roddie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Billie Garret Roddie may be made to Hope from the Heart, P. O. Box 1207, Brady, Texas 76825 and/or McCulloch County Senior Citizens Sunset Center, 214 West Lockhart, Brady, Texas 76825.
