Ms. Melissa Renee Smith, 50, of Brownwood, Texas, was born on January 13, 1975, and passed away on August 8, 2025. Melissa attended schools in both Brantley and Ware County, Georgia and worked as a home health aide.

Melissa was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Horrigan IV and her daughter, Destiny Rose. She is survived by her mother, Barbara Faye Freeman, her sister, Mary Catherine Russell, her two children, Matthew Hunter Rentz and Nora Elisa Gonzalez (Christian), and her Best Friend and Life Companion, Eric Smith. Her grandchildren include Evan Gabriel and Ava Marie Gonzalez, and Christian Avery.

A Celebration of Melissa’s life will be held at 6:00 PM, Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ.
