The Rising Star Fire Department will host its annual Wings and Wheels fundraiser on September 6 at Star Field, located five miles north of Rising Star on County Road 290. Gates open at 8:00 am, and admission is by donation. Sausage wraps will be served beginning at 11:00 am, also by donation.

This year’s event features both car and plane displays, as well as an airshow scheduled from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive before noon since County Road 290 will be closed to traffic from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

After the airshow there will be plenty of opportunities for photos and conversations with owners and pilots. There will be time to check out raffle items and bid in the silent auction, including a handmade quilt. Live music begins at 2:00 pm and raffle winners will be announced by 3:00 pm.

The event promises something for everyone-families, car enthusiasts, aviation fans, and anyone who enjoys a community
gathering under wide Texas skies. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and sunscreen, and prepare for a day filled with impressive machines. good food, and friendly faces, all in support of the local fire department’s vital work.
