AndrewLopezAccording to Early Police Chief David Mercer, Sunday, April 25, 2010 the Early Police Department arrested one individual from information received over the past several days regarding marijuana and Ecstacy being sold in Early and Brownwood.

Sgt Shawn Dibrell received the information regarding the drugs being sold in the area and developed further information over several days. Sgt Dibrell along with assistance from Investigator Carlisle Gover with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office went to a location in the 2800 block of 4th street in Brownwood. Dibrell and Gover made contact with 22-year-old Andrew Wade Lopez of Brownwood.

Officers searched the apartment after Lopez surrendered some Ecstacy and approximately 10 oz of marijuana. Officers continued to search the residence and located several prescription medications consisting of Alprazolam, Propoxyphene, Soma, Orphenadrine and Methocarbamo. The prescription medications were all pain medications that Lopez did not have prescriptions for. These pain medications were also being sold to area residents.

Several items of paraphernalia including packaging materials and scales were also located. Sgt Tracy Delgado with the Brownwood Police Department assisted on the search of the apartment and a female in the apartment who was not arrested.

Officers were able to tie Lopez to trafficking the drugs in the Brownwood and Early area. While questioning Lopez he referred to himself as a “mover” of the drugs and not a user.  Lopez was connected with trafficking illegal drugs from the Austin area to Brownwood and Early.

Lopez was arrested on charges of Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled substance PG 2 – 3rd Felony; Delivery of Marijuana under 5lbs – 3rd Felony; 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance PG3 – State Jail Felony; and 3 counts of Possession of Dangerous Drugs – Class A Misd.

Chief Mercer stated “The Early Police Department continues to strive on a no tolerance approach to illegal drugs in the community and will continue to pursue all leads in the investigations.”
