ROBOTICS MEETING


Join us on July 29th from 6-6:45pm at the Extension Office to learn more about the Robotics Program and how you can get involved! If you have any questions, please contact Sherri Land at 325-642-5604.

BRONZE/SILVER/GOLD STAR AWARDS

If you are interested in applying for the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Star Awards, you must fill out an application and submit a recordbook. The age groups for the awards are Bronze (Junior member), Silver (Intermediate member), and Gold (Senior member). 4-Hers that meet the criteria need to fill out an application/recordbook and have it turned back into the Extension office by August 6th. For more information, please contact Nick Gonzales at the Extension Office.

BROWN COUNTY 4-H PROJECT PROFICIENCY AWARDS

           
Every year at our Awards Banquet, we give project awards. If you are interested in receiving an award for your projects that you completed during the 2024-2025 4-H year, please click the link below and fill out the project form. The deadline to fill out your project forms will be August 6th at 11:59pm. Please contact the Extension Office if you have any questions. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Kicks for Kids Shoe Drive Hosted by the Young Professionals of Brown County

Friday August 8th, 2025 from 10am-Noon! Bring a pair (or two!) to the Brownwood Event Center and get your name in the drawing to win a  Turtle Box from Weakley Watson! Can’t make it to the shoe drive but would still like to donate? Bring shoes by the Extension Office and Rachel will be sure they make it to the drive!

This is a great opportunity for volunteer hours for youth as well! Come on out and help us collect and sort shoes the day of the drive! If you would like to volunteer or if you have any questions, please contact Rachel at the Extension Office at 325-646-0386.

STATE FAIR

PLEASE NOTE: Registration has not been posted to the SF website. We will keep you updated as soon as we learn that it is live. Please keep in mind that entries for State Fair are still due to the Extension Office by 4:30pm on Tuesday August 12th. HEART OF TEXAS FAIR

2025 TEXAS SHEEP & GOAT EXPO
August 15-16, 2025 –  First Community Spur Arena San Angelo, TX

This unique sheep and goat event provides producers and other interested persons the opportunity to attend educational presentations.  The speakers are experts in the industry. This program meets the needs of a very diverse sheep and goat industry.

The event draws producers from across Texas, out of state, and as far away as Australia. It is the largest event of its type in Texas and one of the largest sheep and goat industry educational programs in the world.

The expo will feature guest speakers, educational seminars and numerous live sessions for participants to choose from. The event covers a range of industry topics, including addressing the concerns and challenges facing today’s producer in light of recent events, as well as the exciting changes happening in the industry involving technological advances and new services.

LIVESTOCK SHOW CHECK UPDATES.

This will be updated weekly as we receive checks from stock shows. The Brown County Extension Office will only be receiving checks for 4-H exhibitors.
Additionally, each check must be properly endorsed with the recipient’s name clearly written on the back before depositing or cashing.
Checks are available for you to pick up at the Brown County Extension Office during our office hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm, closed 12:00pm – 1:00pm for lunch Monday – Thursday and Friday 8:30am – 12:00pm.

  • Checks Arrived
    • A thank you letter should be written to each buyer who contributed towards your project. Make sure that it is STAMPED and ADDRESSED and turned into the Extension Office! You will not receive your check until we receive your thank you letters. Handwritten “thank you” letters are best but, depending on your personality and penmanship a typed letter can also be appropriate. Thank each person individually, don’t try and thank a group of people in one letter. PLEASE NOTE THAT CHECKS ARE ONLY VALID FOR 90 DAYS.
