JarvisRoxieRoxie Elizabeth Moore Jarvis passed away Friday, January 22, 2016, at the age of 81, surrounded by family.   Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with family and friend, Joey Wilbourn officiating.   Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Roxie was a life-long resident of Brownwood. She was the daughter of the late J.J. (Bill) and Flossie Moore of Brownwood. Roxie was the wife of the late O.C. “Putter” Jarvis; they married in July of ‘53. She is survived by her daughters, Pam and husband Mike Orr of Crockett, Terry Shankle of China Spring, Jamie and Tom Munson of Brownwood; five grandchildren, Katie and Bryan Culpepper of Crockett, Alexis Shankle of Dallas, Matt and Ashley Munson of Fort Worth, Chris and Claire Munson of Dallas, Courtney Munson of Huntsville; and great-granddaughter, Charlee Jaye Culpepper.  Other survivors are: sister, Carol Moore Hardman and husband Winston of Sylva, North Carolina, special sister-in-law Faye Jarvis of Austin, Texas, several nieces and nephews and many longtime friends.

In her youth, Roxie attended Brownwood schools and Baylor University.  She and Putter returned to Brownwood after his stint in the United States Army.  Upon returning to Brownwood, she served as an officer at Landmark Life Insurance Company.  Roxie was a member of the Brownwood Garden Club, Brownwood Rotary Ann’s, officer of her girls’ PTA’s, and she participated in the Rose Beautification Project at Coggin Park.

Roxie was a member of First Baptist Church in Brownwood, where she enjoyed being a member of Dr. Smith’s and Dr. Butler’s Sunday School Classes.   Roxie had several hobbies, and she enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family and friends in their home.   When not in Brownwood, Roxie loved being on the mountain in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She also enjoyed traveling with Putter and their long time family friends.  Roxie received great joy from her fur-babies, Louie, Clark, and Louie II. Many thanks goes out to their special friend, Carla Tate.

Very near and dear to Roxie and Putter was the Texas A&M Sul Ross Scholarship. They supported 2 cadets throughout their education at Texas A&M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice, Traditions Hospice of Crockett, Gentiva Hospice of Brownwood, or Putter and Roxie Jarvis TAMU Scholarship Endowment (Western Bank, 1110 Clements, Brownwood, TX 76801).
