Joe Frank Parrish

Joe Frank Parrish, 88, of Abilene and former resident of Lake Coleman, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Hendrick Medical Center.  Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Victory Baptist Church, 4810 Jarman Road, Abilene with Rev. David Simms officiating.  Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

He was born Joseph Franklin Parrish on June 2, 1927 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Robert Earl Parrish and Maudie Madge Willis Parrish.  He grew up in Nowata and graduated from high school there.  Joe Frank was drafted into the United States Army during World War II.  On October 16, 1975, he married Billie Jo Musick in Abilene.  Joe Frank worked at Texland Petroleum in Fort Worth as a production supervisor.

After retiring, Joe Frank and Billie moved to Lake Coleman in 1989 and became members of Concho Baptist Church in Coleman.  They later moved to Abilene in 2013, where they became members of Victory Baptist Church.

Joe Frank is survived by his wife, Billie Parrish of Abilene; three children, Linda McQueen and husband, Danny, of Florida, David Parrish and wife, Mary, of Abilene, Vanessa Johnson and husband, Pat, of Tuscon, Arizona; step-children, Kenny Wilkerson and wife, Carol, of Kingston, Oklahoma, Karen Roberson and husband, David McCarty, of Clyde Lake; sister, Bertha Grover of Coffeyville, Kansas; brother, Buford Parrish and wife, Margie, of Midland; grandchildren, Tony, Angie, Chris, Ryan, Michelle, Nikki, Steve, Kenny, Angie, Luke, Lori, Cheyenne, Johnnie, Linda, Krissy, Norman; 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Joe Frank was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Bailey; step-daughter, Kayle Wilkerson and grandson, Jason Johnson.

Visitation with the family will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Victory Baptist Church in Abilene.

In memory of Joe Frank, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
