Construction is scheduled to begin the week of November 2nd on a project to widen an approximately 1.5-mile section of Farm to Market 586 from near the southern Bangs city limits to near County Road 156. This safety-focused project is anticipated to be completed in January 2016, weather permitting.

Currently, this section of roadway features two 10-foot-wide travel lanes with no paved shoulders. Following reconstruction the roadway will feature two 11-foot-wide travel lanes, with two-foot paved shoulders on each side. This will result in a safer driving experience for vehicles of all sizes.

During active construction when workers are present, motorists can expect delays as traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers and pilot cars in use. The roadway will be reopened to two-way traffic on nights and weekends, however drivers are still urged to exercise caution in this work zone.

Motorists are reminded that traffic fines are doubled in work zones when workers are present.

Prater Equipment Co., Inc. of Comanche is the contractor for this $920,045.00 project.
