RossWalterWalter W. “Manny” Ross was born on June 21, 1940 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Walter W. “Curly” and Lola Ross.  Manny was married on January 18, 1986 to the former Sharon Nicholson.  He passed away peacefully on September 27, 2015 at the age of 75.

A graduate of Carrizo Springs High School, Manny was a long time resident of Brownwood, Texas, where he was the owner of Manny’s Fruit Market.  After retirement, he was the produce manager at Walmart until his second retirement.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Nicholson-Ross, daughter Terry Ross, sons Toby Ross and wife Kandi, Bradley McQueen and wife Kim, and Cody Ross, and a sister Anita Brymer.  He had six grandchildren Jessica Jones, Chelsea, Seth and Emma Cunningham, Brinley and Riley McQueen.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one sister Sue Coker, and a son Bobby Ross.

Manny was best known for his whistling talent.  People often say that they always knew when Manny was nearby because they could hear the whistling.  He was a man of few words, but to his family and friends, he would give the shirt off his back.  He loved country music, old classic cars, and hundred dollar bills.

Manny’s family will receive friends on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.  A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2015, also at Heartland Funeral Home. A private family interment will be in the Greenleaf Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.

Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
